eric west is a cinematographer and an alumni of the American Film Institute where he received his masters degree in cinematography. He is also an alumni of Ithaca College in upstate New York where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film,
Photography, and Visual arts. He has shot several commercials, music videos, documentaries and short films.
His short film “Duncan Removed” shot at the AFI, was shortlisted for the student Academy Awards and won a student Emmy award.
He has worked as a Chief Lighting Technician, and is a member of Local 728, Set Lighting Technicians Union and has worked on several television series including “Rizzoli & Isles”, “Marvel’s Agent Carter”, and “The Last Ship” just to name a few.
He believes that lighting is integral to good story telling.
When he is not working he can be found shooting still images with his Leica camera.
He has lectured on cinematography at the American Film Institute, Pasadena City College and the University of Southern California. He currently sits on the board of review at the American Film Institute.
